Introduction

This section offers fun, adventure and friendship for the young people. These youngsters enjoy varied activities and having a sense of belonging to a group. They start to develop a strong sense of right and wrong, have a tremendous imagination and sense of fun. At this age they have a natural curiosity, enjoy praise, love gaining badges and certificates and can respond to structure in a programme.

The Promise & Law

The Promise expresses the Purpose and Principles of Beaver Scouting. All Beaver Scouts make the promise on joining the Movement.

The Cub Scout Promise

I promise that I will do my best, to do my duty to God and the Queen, to help other people and to keep the Cub Scout Law.

Cub Scouts always do their best, think of others before themselves and do a good turn every day.

Programme

The Balanced Programme is based on seven Zones.

  1. Outdoor Scouting;
  2. Fitness;
  3. Discovering the World around You;
  4. Creative;
  5. Beliefs and Attitudes;
  6. Caring and Community;
  7. Global.

The Methods include Games, Making things, Songs/Stories and drama, Visits and visitors, Outdoors, Try new things, Help other people, Themes, Prayer, Worship and reflection, Team challenges and Activities with others.

Awards & Badges

These are designed to further develop a Cub Scout’s skills and interests. Some of these are worked for as part of a group activity and others are gained as individuals.
